Dr Rubina Hakeem is a Professor of Nutrition and Dietetics and Principal at Raana Laiqat Ali Khan College of home Economics Karachi. She is founder member of Pakistan Nutrition and Dietetic Society and has served the society as General Secretary, Vice president and president. She is recently serving PNDS as ICDA Liaison, Web committee chair and as member of registration committee.

She serves the field of nutrition and dietetics through her role in other relevant organizations. She is Vice President Pakistan Home Economics Association and founder member and president of National Association of Diabetes Educators of Pakistan. She also serves as Chairperson Board of studies for home economics of Karachi University and convener for Home economics curriculum committee of higher education commission of Pakistan.

PNDS has been benefitting form her international associations also.   She is a professional member of Nutrition Society UK and International Federation of Home Economics. She serves as country representative for Pakistan at American Overseas Dietetic Association and represent PNDS at ICDA meetings.

In relation to health and nutrition related research and development projects she has served as research/nutrition  Expert for Nutrition Division of National Institute of Health Pakistan,  Higher Education Commission of Pakistan, Allama Iqbal  Open University Pakistan, Canadian International Development Agency, World Health Organization,  World food Program,  Research Cell and Diet and Education Department of Baqai Institute of Diabetes Baqai University Karachi  and the Aga Khan University Karachi.

She has 29 years’ experience of teaching and research,  has guided more than hundred  research studies, presented researches in several national and international conferences and published more than 30 scientific research papers. She is founder and Editor–In-Chief of an International Journal Of Human Development titled NURTURE.

She has developed a Generic food photograph atlas for dietary assessment, developed diet planning charts for Professionals and for people with diabetes. She is working to develop Pakistani cooked foods composition data base.

Dr. Hakeem is a graduate of RLAK College of Home Economics Karachi and earned a doctorate from King’s College University of London.
