“Healthy Eating for Healthy Pakistan”

Like every year Pakistan Nutrition and Dietetic Society (PNDS) organized Nutrition Month with various activities to provide nutrition related information and guidance to public during the whole month of march.

  • Healthful eating messages about Obesity and Weight Management, Kidney Diseases, Diabetes and Public Health Nutrition were delievered for public awareness on social media.
  • Registered Dietitians (RDNs)was celebrated at Royal Rodale Club on 24th March 2017 where Dietitians were supported as the most valuable and credible source of scientifically-based food and nutrition information(Sponsored by Pharmevo pvt.ltd)

This year’s theme “BITE INTO A HEALTHY LIFESTYLE ”is encouraging everyone to adapt eating and activity plans that are focused on making informed food choices and getting daily exercise in order to achieve and maintain a healthy weight ,reduce the risk of chronic diseases and improve overall health.We hope that all of you will also try contributing to our mission by writing articles for newspaper, newsletter and magazines and doing the needful in your own professional and personal capacity. March Nutrition Month 2015 Activity by: Lt.Cdr Rabia Anwer(Dietitian)PNS Shifa Hospital,Karachi 

Nutrition Awareness Camp was organized by Dietitian Lt.Cdr Rabia Anwer (General Secretary of PNDS) and trainees Madiha Ajaz, Sanowber Ajaz and Misbah Ajaz at PNS SHIFA HOSPITAL on 25th of March 2015. Educational materials on my plate, health tips, healthy snacks recipes, tips about exercise, portion size etc were developed, discussed and distributed to the attendants. Some activities were also arranged to the increase interest of participants of nutritional camp. At the end healthy snacks were distributed.The program was attended by 117 individuals of age between 20 – 60 yrs

“March Nutrition Month  2015 & Registered Dietitians Day” by Ayeza Umer  (Dietitian) at Quaid-e-Azam International Hospital, IslamabadA Seminar was organized with the Nutrition Month Theme” Bite into a Healthy Lifestyle” .Dr Shaukat Bangash (CEO Quaid-e-Azam International Hospital) was the chief guest.First guest speaker was Dr. Rezzan Khan (Consultant Nutritionist Shifa International Hospital). She spoke on “Sleep Deprivation and Obesity”.Mrs Hajra Ahmed,Assistant Professor at Allama Iqbal Open University delivered her talk on “Dietary Guidelines for prevention of chronic disease. “And third speaker Ayeza Umar (Consultant Clinical Dietitian Quaid e Azam International Hospital) spoke about “Taking the path to healthier Eating”.The dietitians from Islamabad and Rawalpindi, consultants, medical officers and nursing staff of the Hospital attended the program.  The event was sponsored by Abbott and Nestle Healthcare; stalls were arranged for public awareness.

Nutrition Activity at The City School, A levels (P.E.C.H.S. campus), Karachi .March 2015.

Ms. Iqra Ghufran (dietitian) organized and judge a nutrition session for A Level Pre-medical students at The City School (P.E.C.H.S. Campus)Instructions and guidelines were given to the students by the dietitian two week prior to her visit, to enable them to prepare presentations on the following topics; Nutrition Intervention for Hypertension, Diabetes Mellitus and Osteoporosis.  At the end the dietitian was acknowledged with a souvenir by the school’s headmistress and was highly appreciated for this informative session.

March Nutrition Month 2014

PNDS celebrated ‘March Nutrition Month 2014  with theme “Enjoy the taste of eating right” by combining taste and nutrition to create healthy meals. Following activities have been organized by PNDS to commemorate March Nutrition Month and Registered Dietitians Nutritionist day during the month of March:

  • Publication of Nutrition supplement:An educational material was distributed in the local communities and public at large. Supplement include articles on topics that highlights the importance of a healthier lifestyle and written by PNDS members.Click Here for March Nutrition Month Supplement 2014′
  •  Educational activities: PNDS organized educational activities in different schools of Karachi with a focus on school canteens. Based on needs assessment of individual schools activities have been planned. School authorities, teachers, and canteen staff were involved in the discussion that how to develop healthy eating and life style behaviors among school children and how the school canteens can provide healthy and affordable snacks for the students. Executive committee members conducted the sessions. Altogether 1200-1400 school children were covered through the sessions at the followings schools.click HERE for complete report.

On Wednesday 28th March, PNDS Gave A Public Awareness Session To The Rotary Club (Karsaz Chapter) At The Marriott.
